Payroll Cycle for Remote Employees

Payroll cycles for EOR Employees

In Lano, payroll cycles for EOR employees are managed as a single consolidated cycle. All EOR employees across all company entities are included in one cycle for simplified management.

For payroll employees, see: Managing Payroll Cycles for Payroll Employees

How Payroll Cycles Work

A new cycle is automatically created as soon as the previous one reaches its cut-off date. This means: The “To Review” stage begins right after the cut-off date of the previous cycle, and remains open until the cut-off date of the current one. This rolling timeline ensures there’s always a window available for submitting payroll updates.

Billing Models for EOR Payroll

When using EOR services in Lano, your company can choose from two payment models:

  1. Full Payment at Month-End: You pay the total monthly cost per employee — including salary, employment costs, and fees — after payroll processing is complete.

  2. Pre-funding + Settling: You pay a pre-funding invoice at the beginning of the month to cover expected costs. After payroll is processed, settling invoices per employee are issued to reflect final amounts.

Cycle Views

Each cycle provides two main views:

1. Cycle Progress

This view shows the full sequence of payroll stages, including:

  • Past, current, and upcoming stages with timeframes

  • Descriptions and visual indicators

  • Option to View completed stages for detailed history

Click any stage to view details and associated files.

2. Cycle Report

Gives a full overview of all EOR employees included in the cycle:

  • Status

  • Base pay

  • Benefits & perks

  • Expenses

  • Overtime

  • Time off summary

All monetary values are shown in your company's preferred currency, converted automatically.

Clicking an employee row opens the pay item details modal, where:

  • Left side lists pay items for that cycle

  • Right side shows item details

If the cycle is in To Review or Processing, you can edit or add pay items.

How to Submit or Edit Payroll Changes

Cycle Statuses: Full Payment at Month-End

To Review

This is your window for submitting:

  • Payroll changes (bonuses, salary adjustments, etc.)

  • New hires or offboarding

  • PTO, expenses, and overtime

Processing

After the current cycle’s cut-off date, the status changes to Processing, and Lano begins reviewing and consolidating submitted data. You can still view the cycle and, where allowed, edit pay items.

To Pay

Lano shares individual invoices per employee, detailing total compensation and costs.

Completed

The cycle automatically closes when its end date is reached. Files remain accessible.

Cycle Statuses: Pre-funding + Settling

To Review & Fund

This is your window for submitting:

  • Payroll changes (bonuses, salary adjustments, etc.)

  • New hires or offboarding

  • PTO, expenses, and overtime

At this stage, Lano issues a pre-funding invoice covering the estimated monthly cost for all included EOR employees. This invoice must be paid before the cycle can move forward to processing.

Processing

After the current cycle’s cut-off date, the status changes to Processing, and Lano begins reviewing and consolidating submitted data. You can still view the cycle and, where allowed, edit pay items.

To Pay

Settling invoices are issued per employee, reflecting final payroll amounts based on actual changes.

Completed

The cycle closes automatically at the end date. All reports and invoices remain available.
