A payroll manager in Blackwood, Wales has been sentenced after stealing more than £21,000 from his employer. The theft occurred over a three-year period in which the manager manipulated payroll data to pay himself unauthorized sums. The court heard that he used the funds to cover his gambling and cocaine addictions.

HMRC has postponed mandatory payrolling of benefits in kind to April 2027, allowing employers more time to prepare. President Trump’s proposed “big, beautiful bill” includes new tax deductions for tips and overtime pay, fulfilling key campaign promises. The House Ways and Means Committee’s draft allows workers to deduct these earnings from their taxable income between 2025 and 2028, though full details are still sparse. Bolivia has raised the national minimum wage to BOB 2,750 for 2025 and introduced a 5% salary increase for workers in health, education, police, and military sectors. These changes, effective retroactively from 1 January 2025, also impact personal income tax calculations due to the minimum wage’s role in determining exempt income thresholds.

Spain's government has approved a bill to reduce the standard workweek from 40 to 37.5 hours without reducing pay, aiming to enhance productivity and work-life balance. The measure, which would affect approximately 12.5 million private sector workers, now awaits parliamentary approval. While trade unions support the proposal, business associations express concerns about potential impacts on small businesses.

The OECD has released a document highlighting 28 recurring errors made by multinational enterprise (MNE) groups when preparing Country-by-Country (CbC) reports. These include common data issues such as missing or incorrect Tax Identification Numbers and use of invalid characters in XML filings. The OECD urges MNEs to review these errors to ensure compliance, as inaccuracies hinder the effectiveness of tax risk assessments and data use by tax authorities.

The Low Pay Commission (LPC) is consulting on how best to lower the National Living Wage (NLW) entitlement to include all workers aged 18 and over.
