When an EOR employee resigns or needs to be terminated, it’s essential to follow the correct steps in Lano to ensure compliance with local laws and minimize risks.
Whether the employee resigns or your business decides to end the employment, both cases require you to notify Lano as soon as possible. Because the employee is legally employed by a local EOR partner, only the EOR can officially carry out the termination process — including communication with the employee.
⚠️ Important: Do not inform the employee directly until Lano has confirmed next steps. Premature communication may lead to legal complications.
To initiate a termination:
Go to Team Members in your Lano account.
Select the employee you wish to terminate.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the profile.
Select Request termination.
Fill in the termination reason with as much detail as possible.
Click Submit Request.
Submitting a request does not end the contract immediately. Termination becomes legally effective only after the employee signs the official termination documents.
After you submit the request, Lano’s Customer Success team will contact you to align on:
The notice period
Applicable severance pay
A Termination Letter or Mutual Separation Agreement
Final payroll calculations, including unused vacation days or bonuses
While we aim to meet your preferred end date, legal requirements and country-specific rules will determine the final termination date.
Once next steps are confirmed, Lano will:
Arrange a termination call with the employee
Draft and share the official termination letter
Review leave balances and legal entitlements
De-register the employee from local authorities (e.g. social security)
Please allow a few working days for this process after submitting your request.
